Domaine Michel Cheveau, located in the Pouilly, is run by Michel Cheveau and his son Nicolas. The estate was founded in 1950 by Michel’s father and consists of 13 hectares spread over several villages. No fertilizers are used in the vineyards and the harvesting is done by hand. The 2006 Macon-Chaintre. Les Clos had a rich, oaky nose reminiscent of a good Meursault. Medium- bodied, the wine had ripe fruit and a nice finish. There was a tad too much oak for my taste, but it was balanced. Neil Rosenthal imports this excellent value that I picked up for $14.99.
