Jean-Luc Dubois is a small producer located in Chorey-les-Beaune whose wines are very reasonably priced wines. This bottle was labeled Chorey-les-Beune, Clos Margot, which is a lieu-dit located at the southern end of the appellation near the Beaune border. I was expecting a fruit forward wine based on other examples I have tasted from the village, but this wine was earthy and mineral. According to the domaine’s U.S. importer, North Berkeley Wine in CA, Jean-Luc used to produce fruitier, rounder wines, but since the 1999 vintage he has adopted a more terroir driven approach. I enjoyed this wine, especially since it only cost $20.
